A Bit About Me
Michael Heathen is a hip-hop musician from Dallas, TX represented by the G.L.O.A.T. Ent. independent music label. Growing in scope and depth with each new release, his style has been compared to Tech N9ne, Timberland, and Dr. Dre. Music by Michael Heathen builds crowds, interest and emotion for recordings, performances and playlist spots which never fail to excite his audiences. Asked to describe his songs personally, he calls them “lyrically driven with diverse flows and patterns.” He has also called his music “insightful, with an eye towards progress and building a better understanding of my own life.” Michael Heathen's constantly expanding repertoire includes his most popular recent release, “Peaceful Protest" an EP written and recorded with Ax Stinnett in September 2020. Asked to talk on his love for music, Michael Heathen immediately mentions “The energy. It could be calming, energizing, uplifting, etc. It's a passion – the best way for me to maintain my wits.” Despite undeniable hooks, engaging beats and interesting melody lines, Heathen's music stands mostly on his deliberately crafted lines and rhymes. His verbal gymnastics ensnare audiences, but his intended meaning is often as important as his delivery. “I tend to point out society's flaws,” he writes, “by attacking the usual 'rap' content of misogyny, dope-dealing, gun-toting, baseless and exaggerated bravado.” Michael Heathen has performed in Dallas, Ft. Worth, El Paso, Arlington, Houston, Galveston, Austin, and San Antonio, TX, as well as Oklahoma City and Tulsa, TN, Atlanta, GA, and many other locales. He has played the main stage of the Deep Ellum Arts Festival several times, headlined sold-out events for DFW NORML, and toured with CES CRU of Strange Music. Michael Heathen has shared the stage with such titans as Tech N9ne, KRS-1, Bun B, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Devin the Dude, and Cam'ron. Tracks by Michael Heathen are produced by iQ tha Chemist. His songs often feature popular artists of the American south such as G.L.O.A.T. Ent. co-founder G. Champion, Microphone Lewis, Jeremy Chi, and Lucas Weiss of Loyal Sally.
